The U.S. Embassy in Kyiv has issued a new public warning about the increased threat of large-scale Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukraine.
The statement, posted on the embassy’s official website Wednesday, came shortly after a phone call between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Russia has increased the intensity of its missile and drone attacks against Ukraine in recent weeks,” the embassy warned. “There is currently a continuing risk of significant air strikes.”
The embassy urged all American citizens in Ukraine to remain alert and be prepared to seek immediate shelter in the event of an air raid warning.

Trump–Putin Call Raises Tensions
The embassy’s warning follows a phone call between Trump and Putin, during which the Russian leader reportedly told Trump he would “have to respond” to recent Ukrainian strikes on Russian airbases.
Ukrainian media reported that Putin appeared agitated during the call and suggested retaliatory action was likely.
President Trump posted about the conversation on his social media platform, writing:
We discussed the attack on docked Russian planes by Ukraine and also various other attacks that have occurred on both sides. It was a good conversation, but not one that will lead to immediate peace.
He added, “President Putin has said very firmly that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields.”
A Pattern of Warnings Before Major Strikes
This isn’t the first time the U.S. Embassy has warned of a large-scale attack. A similar alert was issued on May 9, which warned of a major Russian airstrike “in the next few days.”
Two weeks later, on May 25, Russia carried out what became the most intense wave of air attacks since the start of the full-scale invasion.
That day, Moscow launched 355 Shahed drones targeting Kyiv and other regions, killing at least 15 people and injuring dozens.
Ukrainian officials described the strikes as “record-breaking” in both scale and intensity.
