Tehran says no meeting is planned, casting doubt on President Trump’s claim of upcoming negotiations between the two nations.

After days of anticipation following U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of possible nuclear talks, Iran’s top diplomat says no such meeting is scheduled.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated on Thursday that Tehran has no current plans to engage with Washington, contradicting earlier statements from the White House.

No talks confirmed as future remains unclear

In an interview on state television, Araqchi said Iran is still evaluating whether talks would serve its interests.

He pointed to five previous rounds of negotiations, which were derailed after U.S. and Israeli strikes targeted Iranian nuclear facilities.

As reported by Reuters, Araqchi acknowledged that the damage to nuclear sites “were not little” and emphasized that Iran’s future diplomatic strategy would depend on a reassessment of its nuclear program’s current state.

Nuclear tensions still high

The United States and Israel maintain that the strikes were aimed at halting Iran’s alleged pursuit of nuclear weapons.

Tehran continues to insist its program is strictly for civilian purposes.

While the Biden administration appeared optimistic about reopening diplomatic channels, Iran’s denial signals that any path forward remains highly uncertain.
