Polyanskiy: Ukraine Missed the Chance for a Beneficial Peace Agreement

Kyiv missed its chance to sign a beneficial peace agreement with Russia.

This happened when it was “initialed” by negotiators of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This was reported by Dmitry Polyanskiy, the First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations.

“Regarding the peace agreement, it is well known that it was initialed by Zelensky’s negotiators. <…> But you have nothing to worry about — Ukraine missed its chances for such a beneficial outcome,” Polyanskiy wrote on social network X (formerly Twitter) according to Ura News.

He added that any deal now would reflect Kyiv’s capitulation.

Earlier, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted a resolution according to which reparations will be sought from Russia.

The project was supported by 94 UN members. 73 countries abstained from voting, and another 14 opposed such a measure. Later, Kyiv stated that it would not sign a peace agreement with the Russian Federation without Moscow’s commitments to these payments.
