High Noon has issued a recall for two production lots of its Beach Variety Packs after discovering that some of the cans labeled as Celsius Astro Vibe energy drinks were actually filled with vodka seltzer.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published the alert, warning consumers of potential unintentional alcohol consumption.

Vodka in Your Energy Drink?

The issue involves mislabeled 12-ounce cans of Celsius Astro Vibe Sparkling Blue Razz Edition that, instead of containing energy drink, are filled with High Noon’s vodka seltzer.

The packaging error was limited to certain Beach Variety Packs shipped between July 21 and 23 to stores in Florida, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Lot Codes to Look For

Consumers are urged to check the lot codes to see if their packs are affected.

The Silver Top Test

High Noon advises consumers to also look at the top of the can.

Genuine Celsius Astro Vibe cans have a black top. If you find a can with a silver top, it could contain vodka instead of an energy drink.

No Reported Injuries — Yet

Although no injuries or incidents have been reported so far, High Noon is urging everyone who purchased these products to double-check their stock.

Drinking an alcoholic beverage unintentionally, especially if you’re not expecting it, can lead to dangerous situations.

A Manufacturing Mistake

While packaging errors happen occasionally in the food and beverage industry, this mix-up is particularly concerning because of the health and legal risks associated with unintentional alcohol consumption.

For individuals who are driving, underage, or abstaining from alcohol for health reasons, the mistake could have serious consequences.

High Noon Responds to the Mix-Up

High Noon has stated that they are investigating how the mislabeling occurred and have implemented measures to prevent a repeat of this error.
