The Russian army shelled approximately 15 settlements in the Kharkiv region during the day.
The Kharkiv region of Ukraine faced a severe escalation in hostilities as the Russian army launched a series of artillery and air strikes on approximately 15 settlements yesterday. Oleg Synegubov, the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, detailed the attacks in a statement on Facebook.
Widespread Destruction and Displacement
The attacks spanned a wide area, with settlements such as Synkivka, Ivanivka, and Stepova Novoselivka coming under intense artillery and mortar fire. Meanwhile, air strikes targeted Kozacha Lopan, Vovchansk, Okhrimivka, Kup’yansk, Sadove, Tabaivka, and Cherneshchyna, further exacerbating the humanitarian situation in the region.
In Kupyansk, a late-night KAB strike resulted in significant damage to a private residence. Earlier in the day, Liptsi and Lubotyn witnessed destructive assaults, including a strike by an S-300 air defense system that damaged infrastructure. The town of Kupyansk also suffered from a KAB attack that damaged a stadium, locker rooms, private houses, and an apartment building, leaving a 57-year-old woman injured.
The barrage of attacks did not spare residential areas. In Kurylivka, several homes caught fire following an afternoon shelling. Vovchansk saw private houses, fences, and agricultural buildings damaged, with a 27-year-old woman among the casualties.
Despite the lack of offensive operations in the Kupyansk direction, the day was marred by violence and destruction. However, amidst the chaos, bomb technicians undertook a critical demining operation, clearing 18.77 hectares of territory in the Kharkiv Oblast and neutralizing 219 explosive objects.
As reported by Ukrinform, more than 200 people in the region have been provided with new housing, replacing homes lost to Russian attacks.
