Health officials in Canada have issued a food safety warning affecting a popular cheese product. Consumers are being urged to check their refrigerators following the recall.
Gorgonzola D.O.P. dolce cheese from the brand Auricchio has been recalled due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) said the product was distributed in Ontario and Quebec.
The contamination was identified during routine testing, and no illnesses have been reported so far.

The recall applies to 200-gram plastic packages of the cheese.

Consumers are advised to check for a UPC code of “8 004603 100770” and a best-before date of August 5, 2026. The affected items also carry the code “L 2595282E2”.

Health risks explained
Listeria contamination may not be visible but can lead to serious illness known as listeriosis.
Common symptoms include fever, muscle aches, headaches, nausea and vomiting. In more severe cases, it can cause complications, particularly for pregnant individuals, older adults, young children and those with weakened immune systems.
