One senior Russian official insists that, despite mounting pressure, unity remains intact, reports TASS.
No visible divide
A senior Russian lawmaker has dismissed suggestions of internal divisions within Iran during its ongoing conflict with the United States.
According to TASS, Alexey Pushkov said there are no signs of societal fractures two months into the war.
“Two months into the war, there is no sign of a rift in Iranian society. Iran is a very ancient civilization. It’s an intelligent civilization with a rich and diverse culture. Present-day Iranians are rational people. They have a very strong school of engineering,” Pushkov pointed out.
Strategic strength
Pushkov also highlighted Iran’s geopolitical importance in the region.
According to TASS, he said the country’s control of the Strait of Hormuz gives it significant leverage over global energy routes.
He further pointed to Iran’s missile capabilities and intelligence operations as indicators of its military strength.
“I was astonished to hear that a drone had hit the exact floor of a Dubai hotel where CIA officers were staying,” the Russian senator noted.
Cultural cohesion
The senator argued that Iran’s social structure contributes to its resilience.
According to TASS, he described the country as having a deeply rooted cultural and religious identity.
“It is an advanced nation with a powerful urban culture and strong ideas in the form of the Shiite religion, which cements Iranian society,” Pushkov concluded.
Ongoing tensions
The remarks come as tensions between Iran and the US continue to influence the broader region.
Observers remain divided over how the conflict may impact internal dynamics within Iran over time.
For now, Russian officials appear to be projecting confidence in Tehran’s stability.
