At a time when artists and musicians increasingly engage in global political discourse, one of America’s most iconic voices has once again stepped into the fray.
A Blistering Critique from the Stage
Performing in Manchester, England, on the first night of his European tour with the E Street Band, Bruce Springsteen delivered an impassioned speech denouncing the current U.S. administration. According to Digi24,
Springsteen told the crowd,
The America I love, the America I have written about, which has been a beacon of hope and freedom for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treacherous administration.

Springsteen called on fans to join him in standing up for democracy and the principles of the American experiment, warning of the dangers of authoritarianism. His remarks followed similar statements made during last year’s U.S. presidential campaign, where he voiced support for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz while harshly criticizing Donald Trump.
From Reluctance to Outspokenness
Although Springsteen once told Variety that he preferred music to remain a “business of the heart” rather than overt politics, his position has steadily evolved. During his Broadway residency and appearances at Democratic rallies, Springsteen became more vocal. Last year he openly declared,
Donald Trump is running to be an American tyrant. He doesn’t understand this country, its history, or what it means to be profoundly American.
In Manchester, he continued,
The mighty E Street Band is here tonight to call on the righteous power of art, music, and rock ‘n’ roll in dangerous times.
The performance marked the beginning of Springsteen’s European tour, where he is expected to combine music with pointed political commentary aimed at rallying support for democratic values.
