Dr. Pepper drinkers are being urged to check their fridges after a recall was issued for thousands of cans due to a mislabeling issue.

The recall involves Dr. Pepper Zero Sugar sold in 12- and 24-pack aluminum cans, which may actually contain regular, full-sugar soda.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), about 19,203 cases are affected.

The mislabeled products were sold in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.

What to Look For

The recalled cans are marked with the production code “XXXXRS05165” and have a best-by date of February 16, 2026.

This information should be printed directly on the packaging.

Although the label claims the soda has no sugar, some of the cans may contain the full-sugar version of Dr. Pepper, which could pose risks to people who need to monitor their sugar intake, such as those with diabetes.

What to Do

The FDA has classified this as a Class II recall, meaning the mislabeled soda could cause temporary health problems for certain consumers.

If you have one of the affected cases, do not drink it.

Instead, you can return it to the store where it was purchased for a possible refund, or simply dispose of it safely.
