If you’ve recently bought brown eggs, it’s time to check your fridge.

A multistate Salmonella outbreak has triggered a major recall.

95 Sick, 18 Hospitalized

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a widespread recall of large brown cage-free eggs after a Salmonella outbreak sickened at least 95 people and led to 18 hospitalizations across 15 states.

Sold Under Several Brand Names

The eggs were sold under several brand names — Nagatoshi Produce, Misuho, and Nijiya Markets — and distributed between June 16 and July 9 in California and Nevada, with infections reported in multiple other states.

Which Eggs Are Affected?

The recalled eggs were sold in 12-count cartons with sell-by dates between July 1 and September 16, 2025 and marked with the printed code: “No. CA 7695.”

Additionally, bulk cartons of “Country Eggs” — distributed to restaurants and food service institutions — are also affected.

Affected States

So far, cases of Salmonella linked to the eggs have been reported in the following states: Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Minnesota, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania and Washington.

What You Should Do

If you find eggs in your refrigerator matching the brand, sell-by date, and code, the FDA says you should immediately throw them away or return them to the store for a refund.

Even if you’ve already eaten the eggs and feel fine, Salmonella symptoms can take hours or days to appear, so it’s important to stay alert.

Symptoms of Salmonella infection include bloody diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, or fever
