While engaging with students in a recent meeting, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky estimated a massive $700 billion will be required for the nation's post-war reconstruction.

This figure overshadows earlier assessments by international bodies like the World Bank and the European Commission, which pegged the necessary funds at around $486 billion over the next decade.

According to an Interfax-Ukraine report, Zelensky noted,

"We do not yet know the real amounts because the war has not ended. Once it concludes, everything will be analyzed. Essentially, our partners agree that everyone will participate in rebuilding Ukraine. The figures are, let’s say, understandable and accessible."

Rebuilding More Than Infrastructure

President Zelensky outlined that the key focuses of the reconstruction would be in energy, technology, and economic sectors. His vision encompasses not only a rebuild of the physical but a strengthening of the national security and integration into international communities.

Expressing confidence in Ukraine's future, Zelensky anticipates the country's membership in the European Union and NATO.

"NATO means external protection and, undoubtedly, the best security guarantees. But I am also convinced that we will enhance our internal protection. We will fortify our security at the borders, in the cities, and in the communities. In the future, there will be a completely different approach to both security and construction," Zelensky added.
