A North Korean-made Type 75 multiple rocket launcher was destroyed by Ukraine’s 1st Presidential Brigade “Burevii”, according to a statement and video released by the unit on July 11.

The incident occurred on the Kupiansk front, where Ukrainian forces continue to push back against Russian positions.

This was reported by United24 Media.

Outdated but Dangerous

The Type 75 is a 107mm multiple launch rocket system (MLRS), derived from the Chinese Type 63, itself modeled on the Soviet BM-14.

The system can fire a salvo of 12 rockets up to 8.5 kilometers, making it lightweight, mobile, but increasingly obsolete in modern warfare.

Ukrainian forces spotted the launcher shortly after it was deployed to fire.

According to the brigade, their drone pilots acted swiftly:

“North Korean exotic hardware didn’t survive the reality of the front,” the brigade noted in a social media post. “The rocket launcher moved into position to begin firing—but the pilots of the Burevii Brigade struck first.”

Rare and Recycled

This strike is significant not only for its tactical success but also because of the rarity of the weapon.

The North Korean Type 75 is seldom seen on the battlefield.

Analysts have previously reported that Russian forces began mounting these systems on robotic platforms, likely due to shortages of conventional artillery.

The exact number of North Korean rocket launchers sent to Russia remains unclear. Still, the use of such vintage systems—some dating back decades—highlights the increasing strain on Russia’s military resources as the war drags on.

The Ukrainian 1st Presidential Brigade, an elite unit operating on some of the most contested fronts, continues to play a key role in intercepting Russian advances using both traditional artillery and drone-based precision strikes.
