Jimmy Kimmel celebrates a midterm “blue tsunami” by relentlessly mocking Donald Trump over the GOP’s crushing election defeat.
On Jimmy Kimmel Live, the famous comedian and talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel opened his show celebrating the blue tsunami that had just washed ashore during the 2026 midterm election.
Kimmel wasted no time declaring an overwhelming victory: “And not just a blue wave, a blue tsunami,” Kimmel noted to his studio audience.
The host then went after his nemesis — the President of the United States of America.
A biting monologue
The comedian pointed to grim statistical projections for conservatives trying to hold onto power.
“One election model from Harvard said the chances of Republicans keeping the House tonight [were] as likely as rolling the number 20 on a 20-sided [die]. They could have just said five percent, but somebody at Harvard really wanted to let us know they play Dungeons and Dragons,” Kimmel told his crowd, according to Rolling Stone.
Turning toward Donald Trump, Kimmel delivered a crude punchline about the president and Ohio senator JD Vance. “It seems to be after all the talk about Nicki Minaj’s butt, John Huad’s butt, the only butt on Trump’s mind tonight is the one that just got handed to him.”
The Red Wedding
Kimmel noted that Trump was “reportedly angry and cursing as the results came in.” With key Democratic victories stacking up in Texas, the host jokingly imagined the frantic scene inside the resort: “Man, would I hate to be the DoorDash driver who delivers Trump his Papa John’s tonight.”
Earlier that day, the president boasted about his popularity in Israel, adding that he was considering moving there and running the country.
Kimmel loved the idea. “That might be the best idea he’s ever had,” Kimmel added. “I would gladly pay for an El Al flight. Make Israel great again. You could sell a whole new line of hats.”
By the time the broadcast wrapped, the scale of the defeat had become impossible to ignore. The studio erupted. “The blue wave has made landfall and now the Red Wedding begins,” Kimmel declared. He concluded, “Donald Trump is officially a lame duck and an orange chicken at the same time.”
