Former Trump official weighs in after speculation surrounding Melania refuses to fade.
Questions about Melania Trump’s limited public appearances have fueled speculation for months, and now a former member of Donald Trump’s inner circle has offered his own perspective on one of the most persistent rumors surrounding the couple.
Anthony Scaramucci, who briefly served as White House communications director in 2017, says he has never seen evidence of a reported “contract” between the president and the first lady—but admits their relationship appeared unusual from his point of view.
Speaking on The Daily Beast Podcast, Scaramucci addressed longstanding claims that Donald and Melania Trump have some form of private agreement governing their relationship.
“If you’re asking me point blank, ‘Have I seen a contract between them?’ I have not seen a contract,” Scaramucci said.
He acknowledged that journalists have previously reported the existence of an understanding between the couple but stressed he has never personally seen documentation supporting those claims.
Even so, he added that, based solely on his own observations during the 2015-2017 period, their relationship often appeared transactional in nature. He emphasized, however, that this was only his personal impression rather than firsthand evidence.
Personal view of Melania
Scaramucci also shared his opinion of the first lady, describing her as more grounded than many people might assume.
“I thought Melania was very down to earth believe it or not,” he said.
He went on to suggest that she has remained loyal to the president despite the controversies that have surrounded him, while also offering his own interpretation of why the couple are frequently reported to spend time apart.
Scaramucci’s remarks come shortly after Melania Trump’s adviser, Marc Beckman, rejected claims that the first lady has stepped back from public life.
During an interview with Newsmax, Beckman argued that Melania remains actively involved in several initiatives, including humanitarian work connected to families affected by the war between Russia and Ukraine.
“She still is very active and working directly with both governments,” Beckman said.
He also argued that her humanitarian efforts have not received the public recognition they deserve, pushing back against suggestions that she has largely disappeared from public duties.
