Melania Trump documentary gets surprise follow-up despite weak box office.
Melania Trump is heading back to Amazon Prime, with a new documentary series set to debut later this fall just months after the release of the feature-length documentary Melania.
The upcoming project was announced by senior adviser Marc Beckman, who said viewers can expect a very different look at the First Lady than the one presented in the earlier film.
Speaking to Real America’s Voice, Beckman explained that the series expands well beyond the documentary released in January.
“It’s a completely different look at her world,” he said according to Mediaite.
According to Beckman, the documentary captured only around 20 days of Melania Trump’s life, while the new series explores her private life, marriage, family, career and philanthropic work in much greater depth.
He added that the production offers “a full new experience for the viewers.”
Focus on the new administration
Beckman also said the series follows the early months of President Donald Trump’s second administration and gives audiences a closer look at events unfolding behind the scenes.
He described Melania Trump as “the most consequential first lady in history” and said the production highlights her work ethic and the role she plays inside the White House.
The series is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime later this fall.
Documentary sparked attention
The announcement comes after the release of Melania, directed by Brett Ratner.
Although the documentary reportedly carried a production budget of approximately $75 million, it generated around $16.6 million at the global box office.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos defended the project’s cost during a CNBC interview earlier this year, describing it as “a good business decision.” He also denied having any personal involvement in the production or using it to gain favor with President Trump.
