White House lashes out after mysterious bulge appears under Trump’s jacket again.
Donald Trump travelled to North Carolina last week with politics firmly on the agenda. A peculiar detail captured before the president even reached his rally, however, soon attracted attention of its own.
Footage of the 80-year-old speaking to reporters outside Air Force One appeared to show a rigid, box-shaped outline underneath the back of his suit jacket.
Similar outlines have appeared in images of Trump before, and nobody outside his immediate circle has publicly established what causes them.
Social media users naturally decided that not knowing was an invitation to start guessing.
The White House decided to answer those guesses. Subtlety did not make the guest list.
Same suit mystery makes another appearance
White House aide Margo Martin posted the latest footage as Trump arrived in North Carolina on Wednesday, September 16.
Trump was visiting the state to campaign for Republican Senate candidate Michael Whatley in Gastonia as the GOP fights to hold North Carolina’s open Senate seat.
Martin’s video showed Trump surrounded by reporters near Air Force One at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Behind his jacket, a rectangular-looking outline could be seen around his waist.
Attention surrounding the shape is not new.
Daily Beast reports previously highlighted a similar outline during a television appearance in the spring and again in August, when footage from a Long Island event showed Trump’s jacket protruding around the same area.
No verified explanation for the shape has been made public.

Internet detectives have plenty of theories
Lack of an explanation has produced exactly the sort of amateur detective work the internet specializes in.
Online theories have suggested everything from a back brace or other medical equipment to considerably more elaborate devices.
Evidence confirming those theories has not emerged.
Images alone cannot establish whether the outline is caused by a medical device, clothing, an object carried underneath the jacket or something else entirely. Reports examining the footage likewise describe its origin as unknown.
Speculation has nevertheless persisted partly because Trump’s health receives intense public scrutiny.
Recent photographs have shown bruising on his hands, while previous White House disclosures have addressed swelling in his lower legs. Neither issue establishes any connection to the object-like outline visible beneath his jacket.
White House reaches for the flamethrower
The Daily Beast asked the White House what was causing the mysterious shape.
Spokesman Davis Ingle did not provide an explanation.
Instead, he provided an insult.
“Only the glue-sniffing degenerates at the failing Daily Beast would obsessively push baseless conspiracy theories about President Trump,” Ingle said, before accusing the publication of suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
Ingle went on to defend the president’s stamina and performance in office, describing Trump as possessing “sharpness, unmatched energy, relentless work ethic, and historic accessibility.”
He then contrasted Trump with former President Joe Biden and accused Democrats and traditional media organizations of concealing what he characterized as Biden’s physical and mental decline.
The response rejected speculation surrounding Trump but left the simplest question unanswered: what actually created the outline?
No publicly available evidence currently shows that Trump is wearing an undisclosed medical device.
Likewise, no credible evidence establishes the more dramatic health explanations circulated on social media.
Trump’s medical condition cannot be determined from the shape of his suit jacket, and photographs or short videos are not enough to diagnose an illness.
White House officials have previously defended Trump’s health and fitness for office, while Ingle’s latest statement again emphasized the president’s energy rather than identifying the source of the outline.
