President Donald Trump hosted King Charles and Queen Camilla during their official visit to Washington.

Trump also shared personal memories of his late mother and her admiration for the British royal family.
Reflecting on his parents, Trump told the audience: “Anytime the Queen was involved in a ceremony or anything, my mother would be glued to the television and she’d say, ‘Look Donald, look how beautiful that is’.”
He added: “She really did love the family. But I also remember her saying, very clearly, ‘Charles, young Charles, he is so cute’. My mother had a crush on Charles, can you believe it? I wonder what she’s thinking right now.”
He then spoke about his parents’ long marriage, saying: “We loved him so much, we all loved her.”
“They were married for 63 years.”
Unexpected moment
The tone shifted as Trump compared that relationship to his own marriage.
Turning to Melania Trump, he said: “And excuse me, if you don’t mind…that’s a record we won’t be able to match, darling.”
He continued: “I’m sorry, it’s just not going to work out that way. We’ll do well, but we’re not going to do that well.”
The remark prompted laughter from the audience.
