Natalie Harp opens up about life at Trump’s side and reveals how she handles the relentless pressure.
Natalie Harp has gone from being a relatively unknown White House staffer to one of the most recognizable people regularly walking a few steps behind Donald Trump.
Her job puts her remarkably close to the president. Photographs routinely show the 35-year-old carrying a laptop, papers or a large bag while accompanying Trump, and reporting has linked her closely to the president’s Truth Social operation.
Now Harp is offering a rare account of what life inside Trump’s orbit actually looks like.
Speaking to Washingtonian, the president’s special assistant and executive assistant discussed everything from her rapid professional rise to the pace of her job and the morning ritual she uses to prepare for another day alongside Trump.
Harp has a simple answer about her age
Reaching such a senior position at 35 might invite questions about whether age has ever counted against her in Washington.
Harp does not appear particularly interested in the number.
“Age is just a number. Years count how long you have been doing something, not necessarily how good you are at it,” she said.
Rather than viewing her relatively young age as an obstacle, Harp credited Trump with looking beyond demographic categories when choosing the people around him.
According to Harp, the president has “the rare gift” of identifying qualities in people that they might not recognize themselves, regardless of whether they are “male or female, young or old.”
Trump’s Cabinet was offered as an example.
Harp argued that its “diversity in skill, talent, and backgrounds, creates a dynamic unit, which works cohesively together to secure unprecedented WINS for the American People.”
“In the end, History will remember us not for our gender, years lived, or at what age we reached what the World sees as ‘success’ but, by what we did, and that will outlive us!” she added.
Life as Trump’s ‘human printer’
Harp’s proximity to the president has increasingly attracted attention outside the White House.
Her official title only tells part of the story.
Reporting has described Harp as deeply involved in Trump’s flow of information and social-media operation. Her habit of supplying him with printed news stories and other material has also produced a memorable Washington nickname: the “human printer.”
Photos frequently capture her following the president with a laptop or carrying material for him.
Such constant proximity has helped turn a previously obscure aide into a recognizable member of Trump’s inner circle.
Harp credits her ability to survive the workload partly to an attitude toward work that began long before she reached the White House.
She completed college in three years before earning an MBA and said her parents taught her that “work” should not simply mean somewhere a person goes between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Instead, Harp said she learned to keep going until everyone and everything under her responsibility had been properly taken care of.
The Bible comes before another hectic day
Constant travel and presidential politics do not exactly offer the most obvious recipe for relaxation.
Harp has found her own method.
Rather than pointing to exercise, television or another conventional way of switching off, she said faith plays a central role in managing the demands of her job.
“Since the epicenter of ‘power’ is not Washington, D.C., but Heaven, every morning I listen to a few chapters of the Bible on audiobook, and pray for God’s wisdom and strength in whatever situations may arise,” Harp said.
Religion has long been an important part of Harp’s public story.
Her new comments suggest that it also remains woven into the daily routine of a job that can take her from long flights to high-pressure presidential events with little downtime between them.
Her place beside Trump has attracted attention
Public interest in Harp has grown considerably in recent weeks.
Her frequent appearances alongside Trump have prompted extensive media coverage of just how closely she works with the president. CBS News described her in August as one of his loyal aides and noted her reputation for quickly providing him with printouts of favorable coverage.
Coverage has also produced speculation about their relationship because of her unusually visible proximity to Trump.
No credible public evidence establishes a romantic relationship between the pair, and Harp’s documented role is professional. Recent reporting identifies her as Trump’s special assistant and executive assistant, with duties that keep her regularly near the president.
Her visibility has nevertheless become difficult to miss.
Tuesday provided another example when Harp was seen accompanying Trump as he boarded the presidential helicopter following events connected to the UN General Assembly in New York.
Her absence the following day consequently attracted attention as Trump and first lady Melania Trump greeted Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife at Joint Base Andrews.
Missing a single presidential appearance does not establish anything unusual about Harp’s status or relationship with Trump.
Her presence has simply become common enough for her absence to get noticed.
