Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has imposed sanctions on three Chinese companies, accusing them of aiding Russia’s war effort by supplying weapons and materials, and revealing that Chinese nationals have been found fighting alongside Russian forces.
In a decree signed on Friday, Zelensky sanctioned Beijing Aviation And Aerospace Xianghui Technology, Rui Jin Machinery, and Zhongfu Shenying Carbon Fiber Xining. The move follows mounting evidence, according to Ukrainian officials, that China is providing military support to Russia.
Speaking Thursday, Zelensky said Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) and intelligence agencies had confirmed that China was supplying Russia with gunpowder and artillery.
“We have finally received information that China is supplying weapons to the Russian Federation. And we are ready to discuss this in detail,” Zelensky stated. “Today we have general information from the Security Service, intelligence on gunpowder and artillery.”
