In recent years, immigration policy has become one of the most divisive issues in the United States.

Under President Trump’s leadership, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has increased its raids and arrests.

Now, a familiar name from television has stepped into the picture. Former Superman actor Dean Cain has announced that he will join ICE as an agent, according to the Guardian.

“Doing What Is Right”

Cain made the announcement during an appearance on Fox News. He explained that he shared a recruitment video for ICE on his Instagram account.

That post got attention after host Jesse Watters talked about it on air. Cain said he then spoke to ICE officials and would be sworn in as an agent soon. He is already a reserve police officer and a sworn deputy sheriff.

When asked why he chose to join, Cain said it was about doing what he sees as right. He believes the country was built by people who stood up for what they believed in.

He called the current immigration system broken and said Congress needs to fix it.

But until then, he supports Trump’s crackdown. He said this is what people voted for and what he voted for.

A Large New Funding

Cain is best known for playing Superman in the 1990s TV show Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. He said he hopes more former officers and ICE agents will return to help meet Trump’s recruitment goals.

Since Trump returned to office, ICE has been given $75 billion in new funding. The goal is to hire 10,000 more agents by 2029.

The agency now aims to make at least 3,000 arrests a day. These actions have sparked protests across the country. People have been detained even if they have legal status or are U.S. citizens. Critics say ICE often ignores due process.

Cain has also been in the news for criticizing newer versions of Superman. He questioned why Hollywood was changing classic characters to fit modern values.

He said Superman is already an immigrant but that immigration needs limits. In his view, without limits, the system breaks down.

Cain believes joining ICE is one way he can help uphold those limits and support the country.
