Forget blue links and endless scrolling — Google’s next search revolution lets you listen to answers in an AI-powered conversation.

Google is preparing a major change to how we search for information.
Soon, instead of scrolling through blue links and long texts, users may simply listen to the answer.
Audio Instead of Links
The new feature, called Audio Overviews, will use artificial intelligence to answer search questions in the form of a short conversation.
Two AI-generated voices will review and summarize the best search results, delivering clear and focused answers—similar to a small podcast.

The goal is to help users understand complex topics without having to read multiple websites.
Users will also be able to adjust the audio’s speed and volume, making it especially helpful for longer or more complicated explanations, according to Giga.
A Big Technological Step
Google has already tested this type of AI voice interaction in NotebookLM, a note-taking app with voice-controlled AI.
In that app, users could have full conversations with the assistant and explore topics in detail.
Now, Google is bringing the technology directly into its main search engine, which serves billions of users daily.
Still in Early Testing
For now, Audio Overviews is only available in select markets through Google Labs, where Google tests experimental features.
However, the potential of this technology is clear.
Google’s goal is to move away from simply listing links and instead provide answers that feel more like a natural conversation.
Whether this change will replace traditional Google searches remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: the next time you search, the experience may be very different.
