A large-scale Russian drone attack devastated Ukraine’s port city of Odesa overnight on June 20.
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES) reported more than 10 Shahed‑type drones struck the city, sparking multiple fires, damaging buildings and infrastructure, killing one person, and wounding at least 14, including three emergency responders.
Fierce Barrage, Devastating Damage
Firefighters were called to more than a dozen locations.
One of the worst-hit sites was a four-story residential building that went up in flames. Three residents were rescued and six more evacuated from this scene .

Another major fire broke out in a 23-story apartment tower, affecting floors 18 to 20. Emergency services evacuated approximately 600 residents, including three individuals — two children — who were trapped.
Across the city, five residential buildings and three cars also caught fire.
In total, 14 people were injured. Among the injured were three firefighters who sustained injuries when part of the four-story building collapsed during rescue efforts; they have since been treated and are now in stable condition.
Infrastructure Struck
The assault also caused damage to Odesa’s railway infrastructure. Power lines and parts of the rail bed were hit, disrupting transport.
Additionally, a gas pipeline was struck, along with private vehicles and other civilian infrastructure, according to local authorities.
Ukraine’s Air Force reported that Russia launched 86 drones during the broader assault, most of which were intercepted. However, eight managed to strike Odesa.
Simultaneously, Kharkiv and other regions were also targeted, indicating a coordinated, multi-city attack .
