Weapon Ends Up in a Museum, Not the Battlefield

After a decade in development, Russia’s much-hyped Furor microwave weapon system has made its first public appearance.

It is not in combat, but as a museum piece in Kubinka, outside Moscow.

The prototype remains in testing and has never been fielded.

A Supposed Drone Killer With Big Promises

Furor was advertised as a game-changing system for disabling drones and precision missiles using high-powered microwave energy.

Russian developers claimed it had a range of over 10 kilometers, far surpassing similar American technology.

Bold Claims, But No Proof It Works

Despite years of promotion, there is still no verified evidence that Furor performs as promised.

Its extended range and capabilities remain unproven, and the system has never been used in live military operations.

Part of a Pattern of Russian ‘Showcase’ Weapons

The Furor joins other high-profile Russian defense projects, like the S-70 Okhotnik drone and the Peresvet laser system, that appear more focused on optics than battlefield impact.

Critics say these programs often underdeliver or miss deadlines.

The system is mounted on a Buk air defense vehicle chassis and includes a microwave generator, a reflector antenna, and a command and control unit.

Though some reports hinted at future integration with air defense networks, experts see that as doubtful.

Developed by a Well-Known Radar Institute

The Furor was developed by the Moscow Institute of Radio Engineering, part of the Vega corporation, which specializes in radar technology.

Despite their reputation, the institute has not delivered convincing results on this project so far.

Still in Testing, Still No Results

Photos of the system were recently published by Btvt.info, but it remains in a test phase with no timeline for deployment.

For now, the project looks more like a political statement than a functional military asset.
