The defense ministry claims that recent press releases from US back up their maps.
When international tensions rise, the battle for information often moves to the global stage.
Government updates and military briefings can quickly turn into a war of words between powerful nations over highly sensitive intelligence.
Now, a fresh round of accusations has emerged regarding secret research facilities.
Serious allegations made
The Russian Defense Ministry has leveled intense new claims against Western nations. Secret laboratories, they allege, have been running dangerous experiments right on Russia’s doorstep.
According to TASS, Lieutenant General Alexey Rtishchev detailed these accusations during a recent military briefing, claiming that the United States government directly funded several facilities inside Ukraine.
Rtishchev stated that these sites focused heavily on dangerous pathogens rather than local medical needs. He argued that the research involved deadly diseases like plague, anthrax, and Ebola.
“The very nomenclature of pathogens, which does not correspond to the current health problems of Ukraine, where an increase in the incidence of rubella, diphtheria, and tuberculosis is recorded, indicates attempts to develop biological weapons components in the Ukrainian biolabs,” Rtishchev said.
Top secret operations
The Russian military claims that the operations happened under strict observation from Washington. They allege that local scientists had very little insight into the actual experiments.
According to Rtishchev, the work happened under the direct coordination of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. He stated that the projects operated in deep secrecy.
“The work was coordinated by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), the research was conducted in conditions of top secrecy with limited access of Ukrainian specialists to information and premises,” Rtishchev added.
The general also pointed to several American engineering and pharmaceutical firms. He claimed these companies acted as the primary contractors for building the facilities and supplying laboratory gear.
Clashing over facts
Russia has tried to bring these documents to international forums before. However, the military says their findings have been repeatedly dismissed as simple propaganda.
The defense ministry claims that recent press releases from US intelligence agencies actually back up their geographical maps. Still, Western officials have consistently rejected these claims as a disinformation campaign.
Rtishchev noted that past attempts to discuss the issue at the United Nations resulted in immediate pushback from Western countries.
“Until the last moment, we received only excuses and accusations of disinformation in response,” Rtishchev stated.
