According to US officials and nations in the Baltics, Russia is planning false flag attacks in the coming years to test the NATO alliance.

The countries fear that Putin will target them to test the NATO alliance.
A false flag operation
Lithuanian leaders have just issued a warning. They suspect Russia is preparing to stage attacks on European soil.
The plan involves Russia framing Ukraine for an attack on an allied country, according to the Baltic nation’s top defence official. Its ultimate goal is to destroy military support and strong coalitions.
Lithuania’s defence minister Robertas Kaunas laid out the suspected plot on Thursday. He pointed directly at Moscow.
“We are talking about a false flag operation, using a false Ukrainian drone,” Kaunas said.
Staying the course
The minister believes the strategy is designed to make international partners doubt their military aid. He insists the tactic will fail.
“One of the goals is for NATO to waver and decrease support to Ukraine,” Kaunas explained. “I can assure you this will not happen.”
This alert follows a pattern of deep anxiety in Vilnius. Back in the summer, the country’s leader voiced very similar fears to the public.
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda warns that Russian operatives are actively targeting the nation’s critical infrastructure.
Russia dismisses claims
Russian officials have completely rejected these accusations. The Kremlin brushed off the warnings from the Baltic region as fabricated panic.
They categorically refute the claims as mere “scare stories.”
Yet tensions continue to build across the Baltics. These countries repeatedly highlight a growing wave of aggression meant to destabilise the region.
Testing NATO unity
It is not just the Baltic countries that claim that Russia will try to drive a wedge between countries and test the loyalty of the NATO alliance.
However, it is not just false flag operations or terrorist attacks that Russia is planning.
According to US military officials cited in the Wall Street Journal, within the next few years, Putin is planning to hit countries with cyberattacks and various forms of sabotage to try to destabilise the strength and unity within NATO.
