The woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, faces criminal charges under Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code, which deals with “High Treason.”
Investigators claim that she established contact with a Ukrainian intelligence representative and proceeded to gather information about defense-industrial facilities located within the Udmurt Republic.
The data she reportedly collected was deemed potentially useful for hostile activities against Russia.
Up to 20 Years in Prison
Authorities have decided to detain the woman pending further legal proceedings, citing concerns over the severity of the alleged espionage activities.
Should the woman be convicted of these charges, the consequences could be severe.
In Russia, charges of high treason can lead to lengthy imprisonment, with potential sentences ranging from 12 to 20 years depending on the severity of the offense.
