“We Were Attacked by Our Own Army”
Locals in Russia’s Belgorod region say a Russian warplane bombed civilian property.
The claim comes from an alleged intercepted phone call published by Ukraine’s military intelligence (HUR).
“It’s terrible. At five o’clock there was a huge explosion… And those were our planes,” a woman says in the recording an continued: “We were attacked by our own army.”
Bomb Dropped on a Vegetable Garden
The woman says the bomb was dropped “on a vegetable garden” to avoid being hit by radar.
“Why are they flying over populated areas?” she asks.
No injuries were mentioned in the recording.
Russian Bombs on Russian Soil
Incidents of Russian munitions falling on Russian territory have been frequent during the war.
The Washington Post reported nearly 40 such cases between April 2023 and April 2024.
