A drone strike has targeted the United Arab Emirates’ only nuclear power plant, marking a major escalation in regional tensions.

Fears are growing over a wider conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States.

Regional tensions rise

Saudi Arabia also reported intercepting several drones overnight as security concerns spread across the Gulf region.

The incidents come amid growing fears that attacks on energy and infrastructure sites could further destabilize the Middle East.

Nuclear facility targeted

According to InDaily SA, citing Emirati authorities and AP reporting, a drone strike caused a fire near the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the UAE.

Officials said the attack damaged an electrical generator outside the facility’s inner perimeter but confirmed there were no injuries and no impact on radiation safety levels.

The UAE said it was investigating the source of the drones and warned it reserved the right to respond to what it described as “terrorist attacks.”

Saudi Arabia intercepts drones

Saudi Arabia said it intercepted three drones that had entered its airspace from Iraq overnight.

Officials warned they would take necessary operational measures against any threats to the country’s sovereignty and security.

The incidents come amid rising instability across the Gulf as regional powers brace for further attacks linked to the ongoing Iran conflict.

International alarm grows

The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed emergency systems were operating normally at the Barakah facility.

The agency also called for “maximum military restraint” near nuclear sites.

Officials said they were closely monitoring developments after the attack raised fears about military activity near critical infrastructure.

Regional governments have increasingly expressed concern about drone warfare spreading beyond active conflict zones.

Trump warns Iran again

US President Donald Trump intensified pressure on Iran following the latest escalation.

“For Iran, the Clock is Ticking, and they better get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left of them,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Reports also said Trump is expected to meet senior national security advisers this week to discuss possible military options involving Iran.

Conflict continues spreading

The latest attacks come weeks after a fragile ceasefire linked to the wider US-Israel conflict with Iran appeared to stall.

Iran has repeatedly accused the United States and Israel of destabilizing the region, while Washington continues demanding restrictions on Tehran’s nuclear activities and regional influence.

Tensions surrounding oil shipping routes, drone attacks and military retaliation have kept global markets and regional governments on edge.

Gulf region remains on alert

The UAE, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states hosting US military facilities have increasingly strengthened air defenses.

Officials fear further attacks targeting energy and infrastructure sites across the region.

Analysts warn that continued escalation could have serious consequences for regional stability and global energy markets.
