Political rivalries usually play out in debate halls or on social media timelines.
Sometimes the tension boils over into unexpected public challenges. Now, a high-profile feud is taking a sudden turn toward the world of mixed martial arts.
A sacred space
Just days ago, the White House hosted a massive combat sports event right on its historic grounds. Organizers brought a giant metal fighting cage directly to the South Lawn.
The unprecedented setup immediately sparked intense public debate about presidential decorum. Many observers felt the iconic residence was the wrong place for a fighting tournament.
Adding his voice to the growing chorus of critics, Hunter Biden stepped into the fray. He published a lengthy public statement denouncing the spectacle.
He directly responded to popular podcaster Joe Rogan, who had bluntly told critics of the event to stop complaining.
Respecting the grounds
According to Ladbible, Biden expressed a desire to sit down with Rogan to discuss the matter face-to-face. He wanted to “explain why so many of us were offended by the UFC fight on the South Lawn of the White House,” according to his post.
He made sure to praise the fighting organization as a “bona fide American success story” and called the athletes “remarkable” for their physical bravery.
Still, he drew a firm line regarding the location. “The White House does not belong to Donald Trump. It does not belong to any President. It belongs to the people,” Biden stated.
He then added, “To treat it as Caesar treated the Colosseum is antithetical to everything our founding fathers fought for.”
Throwing down the gauntlet
Suddenly, the social media post took a very surprising turn. Biden offered a wild alternative entertainment idea directly to the famous podcaster.
He pitched a direct physical showdown with the current president’s eldest son. “Cage match between me and Don Jr.? Your call on the venue. Anywhere but the South Lawn,” he suggested.
This is actually not the first time such an idea has surfaced. Earlier this year, journalist Andrew Callaghan brought up the concept during an interview on Channel 5.
During that broadcast, Biden joked about Callaghan trying to set up a bout. “I think he’s trying to organize a cage match, me versus Eric and Don Jr.,” Biden said at the time.
