Russia launched over 200 drones and missiles at Ukraine overnight, killing at least two people in Kharkiv and causing severe damage in Odesa.
Russia launched a massive barrage of over 200 drones and various missiles across Ukraine overnight, targeting multiple regions with heavy focus on Odesa and Kharkiv. The widespread attacks resulted in civilian casualties, extensive structural damage, and severe disruptions to essential public services. Emergency crews continue to search through damaged buildings as defense forces work to clear the aftermath.
Devastation in Odesa and Kharkiv
Odesa suffered some of the most severe damage during the overnight assault. Several residential buildings across two city districts were partially destroyed, while local infrastructure and civilian vehicles were heavily hit. According to a report by United24 Media, at least eight people sustained injuries, with most receiving shrapnel wounds from the explosions.

The strikes caused major power grid failures and cut off water supplies for many residents in Odesa. In response, municipal authorities deployed emergency buses to replace suspended electric public transport services. Local crews are working around the clock to restore basic utilities and clear debris from the affected streets.
Meanwhile, in Kharkiv, Russian missiles struck a high-rise residential building in the Saltivskyi district. The strike caused extensive destruction between the seventh and tenth floors, trapping residents inside the crumbling structure. City officials confirmed that two people were killed and at least 13 others were injured in the attack.
Scale of the aerial attack
Ukraine’s Air Force reported that Russian forces deployed 202 Shahed attack drones, jet-powered variants, and decoy munitions. The strikes were launched from several sites in Russia as well as occupied Ukrainian territories. The assault also included ballistic, anti-ship, and anti-radiation missiles fired from occupied Crimea and the Black Sea.
Despite the high volume of incoming fire, Ukrainian air defense systems managed to intercept or suppress 174 drones and five loitering munitions. As reported by United24 Media, defense measures also forced several missiles to fail before reaching their intended targets. However, strikes were still recorded at 22 different locations across the country.
Falling debris from intercepted targets created additional hazards in at least six different sites across northern, southern, and eastern regions. Defense forces continue to clarify the full impact of the strikes as field teams inspect the damage. The large-scale interception highlights the ongoing intensity of Ukraine’s air defense operations.
Widespread civilian casualties
The overnight barrage also affected several other regions across Ukraine. In the Zhytomyr region, three people were injured when a strike damaged private homes, local infrastructure, and a private facility with German investment. One victim required immediate hospitalization for severe burns.
Human costs from Russian aerial attacks continue to mount in southern regions as well. In Kherson, a 12-year-old girl was hospitalized following a drone strike that left her with a concussion and blast injuries. Similar civilian strikes occurred just a day earlier, when a drone attack in the Kyiv region claimed the lives of three civilians, including a three-year-old boy.

By targeting residential areas and critical utility grids, the attacks place severe pressure on civilian communities and emergency responders throughout the country.
