A Ukrainian defense contractor announced that its newly developed tactical ballistic missile will be ready for combat deployment within weeks.
The Ukrainian armed forces could begin deploying a newly developed tactical ballistic missile within weeks. According to Kyiv Post, defense contractor Fire Point recently completed two testing stages for its FP-7 weapon system. The manufacturer is currently preparing the ground-launched missile for active combat operations against Russian targets.

Company executives discussed the deployment timeline during a recent defense exhibition in Poland. As reported by Kyiv Post, Fire Point CEO Iryna Terekh stated, “We are talking about weeks, not months.” The chief designer compared this new domestic weapon system to the American-made ATACMS platform.
The FP-7 projectile reaches a maximum flight speed of 1,500 meters per second. According to Kyiv Post, the tactical missile can strike targets up to 200 kilometers away. The system carries a high-explosive warhead weighing up to 150 kilograms.
Expanding long-range strike capabilities
Military officials anticipate using these new missiles to strike deep inside hostile territory this autumn. As noted by Kyiv Post, the company founder stated that flights into Russian territory will commence following final tests. He expects military planners to select highly significant strategic targets right from the start.
The defense contractor is simultaneously developing an extended-range variant called the FP-9. According to Kyiv Post, this larger ballistic missile boasts an operational range of up to 850 kilometers. The manufacturer officially announced the development of both weapons in September 2025.
Engineers face geographical limitations when testing this longer-range munition domestically. As highlighted by Kyiv Post, testing the missile entirely within Ukrainian territory remains physically impossible. The company representative indicated that upcoming trial stages will likely involve actual combat strikes inside Russia.
Warning of escalating consequences
Political leadership warns that strikes will intensify if the ongoing war continues. According to Kyiv Post, Presidential Office Chief Kyrylo Budanov stated that Moscow will feel the consequences increasingly strongly. This warning follows a recent special operations strike on two Russian gas facilities located 3,000 kilometers away.
Officials maintain that Ukraine will continue fighting while remaining open to acceptable diplomatic solutions. As reported by Kyiv Post, Budanov stated, “We are standing on our land, and no one has the right to simply give that land away to someone else.” The leadership seeks security guarantees before agreeing to halt hostilities.
Any potential ceasefire arrangement would freeze the conflict along the existing frontline. However, according to Kyiv Post, the government in Kyiv will not legally recognize the occupation of its territory. Authorities view the continued development of domestic strike capabilities as crucial for enforcing these security demands.
