Republicans are furious about how Trump has acted towards the end of the midterm election campaign claiming he has “lost the plot.”
There has not been a more visible man on the midterm election campaign trail than the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump.
He has held nearly 30 campaign rallies over the past two weeks. However, instead of trying to highlight his candidates and address problems that Americans are facing, Trump is deeply occupied with male physiques, personal vendettas, the renovation of golf courses, and the White House.
That has left Republicans befuddled about Trump’s closing message before the election as they brace for a blue wave.
Losing the message
Donald Trump is making his final pitch ahead of the midterm elections, but his message is baffling allies. As Trump sees his approval ratings in the low 30s, the president has largely brushed aside kitchen-table economics, according to a report by The Atlantic.
Trump even called the affordability crisis a “hoax.” Instead of talking about grocery bills, his rallies have drifted into personal grievances, White House redecorations, and attacks on television critics like Bill Maher.
Then came the commentary on male athletes. At a Michigan rally, Trump spent minutes marveling at the physique of Ohio candidate Jon Husted, telling the crowd the lawmaker’s “butt is like a pile of muscle.”
GOP panic in red states
Many in the GOP are sounding the alarm. With Democrats threatening to take both houses of Congress, Republicans suddenly find themselves scrambling to defend Senate seats across once-safe red territory like Texas, Alaska, Ohio, and South Carolina.
Some vulnerable candidates want the president to stay far away. In Maine and New Hampshire, lawmakers have quietly warned the White House that Trump is not welcome on the trail.
One Republican running for reelection confessed anonymously to The Atlantic “we may have lost the plot here.” There is widespread anxiety as the midterm election is mere days away.
Trump lives in a bubble
Back home, many Americans remain furious over high fuel prices, an ongoing foreign war, and violent federal deportation sweeps that killed two citizens in Minneapolis.
Simply put, Republican voters are tired of Trump breaking his campaign promises from back in 2024 about affordability, “no new wars,” and lower inflation.
The White House firmly rejects any talk of trouble. In an official statement, spokesperson Olivia Wales insisted Trump is touring the country to deliver “safer streets, lower taxes, a secure border, and energy dominance” to the American people.
