Are you a Drama Queen?

Drama is a part of being alive, but some people just seem to attract drama like no other. Additionally, some individuals tend to explode with emotions at the smallest of things.
Why are they (you?) like that?

There can be a number of reasons for people being Drama Queens or Kings. Your upbringing play a role, as do Cultural differences. Some might even have a biological issue making it harder for them to keep their feelings under control
It’s not all bad

Walking around with your feelings on the outside isn’t all bad. When you’re in a good mood, you’re probably the Ray of Sunshine that brightens everyones day, or maybe you’re the one lifting the party from average to legendary.

Do you want to control it?

That being said, it can be very useful to know how to keep your emotions under control – and even if you’re an adult, it’s never to late to get some tips on how to improve your life as well as others.
Tip #1: Label your feelings

If your emotions are spinning out of control, find a post it-note or make up a word to describe each individual feeling. This tricks the brain into thinking more logically, making it easier to get the emotions under control.
Tip #2: Breath

Yes, we know you have to breath just to stay alive, but our breathing is also a shortcut to making our nervous system relax. Take a deep breath, hold it for a bit, and then exhale slowly for a couple of times until you’ve gotten ahold of yourself.
Tip #3: Count to ten

It’s an old saying, but that doesn’t make it false. Taking a couple of seconds to count to ten when you feel your emotions bubbling up can make it easier to regulate your reaction to whatever triggered your emotions to start with.
Bonus tip: How to be around one

Even if you’re not a Drama Queen or King yourself, it can be beneficial to know how to handle it, if one of your friends or co-workers is. The best strategy is to keep calm and be empathetic, as this prevents the situation from escalating.
