What is happening?

In an ominous three-minute video, the Director of US National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, warnet that the world is “closer to the brink of nuclear annihilation than ever before.”
The ghosts of WW2

Gabbard was recently in Japan to visit Hiroshima, the city hit by the first ever nuclear bomb dropped in war, and learn about the aftermath of the nuclear attack committed by the US in 1945.
The weapons have become more powerful

The bomb on Hiroshima killed an estimated 135,000 people in the blast and aftermath, but Gabbard warns that the yield of the Hiroshima-bomb is nothing compared to the weapons of today.

Nuclear shelters and “powerful people”

“This is the reality of what’s at stake, what we are facing now,” Gabbard says in the video, before she went on to hint that the powerful people of the world are confident they would not be unaffected by any consequences because of access to nuclear shelters.
“It’s up to us”

In the video, Gabbard calls to action by “the people”, saying that “it’s up to us” to demand an end to “this madness”.
Ongoing nuclear negotiations

The Trump administration i currently negotiation with Iran over a nuclear deal, which might have to do with the timing of Gabbards video.
Monday, Trump told reporters, that Iran had rejected a US proposal that would have stopped Iran from enriching uranium – a key component in nuclear energy, but also used to build nuclear weapons.
