Russia carried out one of its largest overnight airstrikes in months, firing missiles, Shahed drones, and Kinzhal hypersonic weapons at cities across Ukraine, according to Ukrainian officials and the State Emergency Service on October 30.
The attacks hit energy facilities and residential areas in several regions, including Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Mykolaiv, injuring dozens of civilians, among them children, and triggering nationwide power outages.
Zaporizhzhia hit hardest
Authorities in Zaporizhzhia reported some of the most severe damage. At least 15 people were injured, including six children aged 3 to 6, when a dormitory and several apartment buildings were struck.
“Several floors of the dormitory have been destroyed,” Ivan Fedorov, the regional governor, wrote on Telegram, adding that one person might still be trapped under debris. Emergency workers spent the morning battling fires and searching the rubble.
According to local officials, Russian forces launched about 20 drones and eight missiles in the area overnight.
