Sam’s Club has issued a nationwide recall of its Member’s Mark Super Greens dietary supplement powder after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) linked the product to a salmonella outbreak.

The recall includes all lots and best-by dates of the Super Greens powder, meaning every package sold is affected, regardless of when it was purchased.

The contamination has been traced to organic moringa leaf powder, one of the supplement’s ingredients.

A multi-state outbreak

At least 11 people have fallen ill, with three hospitalized, in a multi-state outbreak.

According to the FDA, six of the individuals reported consuming Member’s Mark Super Greens before developing symptoms.

The affected product was sold nationwide through Sam’s Club locations, and illnesses have been confirmed in Florida, Kansas, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.

Symptoms of salmonella

Salmonella infection, or salmonellosis, can cause symptoms such as diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, headache, and loss of appetite.

Symptoms typically begin six hours to six days after exposure and can last up to a week.

Consumers are urged to check their cabinets and dispose of or return any Member’s Mark Super Greens powder they may have.

If you’ve consumed the product and are experiencing symptoms of foodborne illness, consult a healthcare provider immediately.
