Xiaomi Targets Europe with Bold EV Plans

Xiaomi has confirmed it will enter the European car market in 2027, with the YU7 SUV and SU7 sedan leading the way. After rapid success in Asia, the move will pit Xiaomi directly against premium European brands.

A Ferrari Rival in Disguise

From the outside, the YU7 could be mistaken for Ferrari’s Purosangue—the Italian brand’s first four-seater SUV. Its long hood, low cabin profile, and muscular stance have fueled comparisons with Ferrari, Aston Martin, and other luxury marques.

Performance to Match the Legends

The YU7 delivers 681 horsepower, a top speed of 157 mph, and 0–62 mph in 3.3 seconds—almost identical to the Purosangue’s 3.2 seconds. Its electric drivetrain offers a claimed range of up to 519 miles.

Lightning-Fast Charging Capability

The SUV’s 800-volt charging system allows the battery to recharge from 10% to 80% in just 12 minutes, making it one of the quickest-charging EVs on the market.

Price Gap Stuns Analysts

Back home in China, the YU7 starts at just £26,000, with higher-spec versions around £33,500. Even with a price increase in Europe, it would massively undercut the Ferrari Purosangue, which retails for around £365,000.

A Growing Trend of Chinese “Lookalikes”

The YU7 follows other Chinese models inspired by luxury brands, including SUVs echoing the design of Range Rovers at a fraction of the cost. These cars are proving popular among drivers seeking prestige styling without premium prices.

Consumer Appeal: Luxury for Less

Automotive commentators note that drivers are embracing the chance to own vehicles with supercar styling at accessible prices. YouTube reviewers have highlighted the YU7’s “sinister” road presence compared to more conservative electric SUVs.

What It Means for Europe’s Car Market

If Xiaomi brings the YU7 to the UK and Europe, it could trigger a price war in the premium EV segment. Traditional automakers may struggle to justify their high prices as Chinese challengers push into new markets.

Ferrari Faces an Unlikely Rival

While Ferrari and other luxury brands trade on heritage, Xiaomi’s YU7 shows that performance, design, and technology can be delivered at a fraction of the cost—raising big questions about the future of prestige motoring.
