Jimmy Kimmel’s talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, has been temporarily preempted.
This drew praise from President Donald Trump.
Show Temporarily Taken Off Air

On Wednesday, ABC and affiliated stations, including Nexstar-owned networks, announced that Jimmy Kimmel Live! will be preempted “for the foreseeable future.”
The decision comes after Kimmel’s comments on the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
“Nexstar strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programming in its ABC-affiliated markets,” the network said.

On Monday night, Kimmel criticized the MAGA movement’s response to Kirk’s death, mocking political reactions and President Trump’s grieving process.
He said in part: “This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he calls a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish.”
The comments were widely criticized and led to calls for accountability. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr suggested that continued broadcasts could put ABC affiliates at risk of fines or license revocations for “news distortion.”
Trump Praises the Cancellation

Late Wednesday, Trump took to Truth Social to comment on the preemption. He wrote:
“Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible. That leaves Jimmy and Seth [Myers], two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!!”
