In 2013, BBC and University of Colchester conducted a very simple experiement with a small group of volunteers.
The participants were fittet with heart rate and glucose moitors and were instructed to stand at their desk at least three hours a day.
The results

The results speak for themselves:
- On standing days, the volunteers blood glucose levels went back to normal quicker after eating a meal.
- The average heart rate when standing was 10 BPM’s higher than when sitting, burning an additional 50 calories per hour.
