According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Ambiano electric pressure cookers sold at Aldi have been recalled due to safety concerns.

The cookers may open while still pressurized, causing hot contents to erupt.

What’s being recalled

The electric pressure cookers were sold at Aldi stores nationwide between January 2016 and December 2019.

Here’s what to look for:

  • Brand: Ambiano Electric Pressure Cookers
  • Sizes: 6-quart and 8-quart
  • Model numbers on rating label: KY-318B / 93550, KY-318A / 96775, 6L-PC / 98527

The hazard

The lid can be opened before internal pressure is fully released, allowing hot food and liquid to shoot out and cause burns.

Also read

The company and the CPSC have received 11 reports of the malfunction, including 8 severe burn injuries.

What owners should do now

First of all, stop using the cooker immediately. Return it to any Aldi store for a full refund.

Receive a refund

If you don’t live near an Aldi store, you can contact Tempo at serviceusa@tempo.org.

To receive a refund, provide a photo of the unplugged unit with the power cord cut, along with a photo that clearly shows the model number and date code.

How to identify your unit

Find the rating label (typically on the underside or side of the base).

If it lists KY-318B / 93550, KY-318A / 96775, or 6L-PC / 98527, your cooker is included.
