Walmart Canada has issued a new food recall that may affect shoppers across the country.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning consumers not to drink a popular Great Value juice product after quality concerns prompted a nationwide recall.
The recall involves Great Value 100% Grape Juice, sold exclusively at Walmart stores.
The issue? The presence of tartrate crystals, naturally occurring sediment sometimes found in grape products.
While harmless, the crystals may resemble shards or hard particles, making the drink unpleasant or concerning for consumers.

Which product is being recalled?
The affected product details are:
- Brand: Great Value
- Product: 100% Grape Juice (1.82 L)
- UPC: 6 81131 71323 8
- Lot code: CT89-01
- Best-by date: 2026 OC 08
The recalled juice was distributed nationally, meaning customers in every province may be affected.
Is the product dangerous?
The CFIA has classified this as a Class III recall, the lowest tier for food recalls.
This means the issue is not expected to pose a health risk. Tartrate crystals are a natural byproduct that can form when juice is stored at cold temperatures.
Though harmless, the crystals can be mistaken for glass or foreign material, which is why the recall was issued.

What should consumers do now?
Shoppers who purchased the affected juice should avoid drinking it. Throw it away, or return it to any Walmart location for a refund.
No illnesses or injuries have been reported to date.
While Class III recalls don’t usually indicate a threat to public health, they help maintain consumer confidence and ensure transparency in the food supply.
