Following the U.S. military strike on Iranian nuclear installations, Russia has emerged as a vocal critic, condemning what it calls a reckless and unlawful escalation.

The Kremlin has aligned itself closely with Tehran, warning that continued aggression could destabilize the region and undermine global security frameworks.

As reported by 20minutos, Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi in Moscow to coordinate their response.

Araqchi stated that Iran maintains a strategic relationship with Russia and routinely shares updates on nuclear negotiations.

Putin, who has so far declined direct talks with U.S. President Donald Trump, said a phone call could be arranged quickly if needed.

Meanwhile, Dmitri Medvedev, vice chairman of Russia’s Security Council, criticized Trump harshly, stating, “Trump, who arrived as a peacemaker, has now launched a new war.”

Accusations of Violating International Law

The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a formal statement condemning the U.S. strike, calling it a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter.

“The decision to subject the territory of a sovereign state to missile and bomb attacks, regardless of the justification, is a grave breach,” the ministry wrote.

Russia also warned that the action undermines the credibility of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and the monitoring mechanisms of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

It urged IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi to respond with an impartial report and called on the UN Security Council to issue a collective rebuke of U.S. and Israeli actions.

The Kremlin concluded its statement by demanding an immediate cessation of hostilities and renewed efforts to restore diplomatic dialogue, emphasizing the urgent need for a return to political solutions.
