Russian troops have entered Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region and taken control of a village, according to Russian state media and military bloggers.

This marks a new area of advance in the war, which has already lasted more than two years.

First Capture in Central-Eastern Ukraine

Russian news agency RIA quoted Vladimir Rogov, a pro-Russian official, who said Russian forces had taken the village of Dacinoe in Dnipropetrovsk.

There has been no confirmation yet from Ukrainian sources or the Russian Defense Ministry, Reuters and Digi24 report.

This development follows two months of Russian territorial gains totaling about 950 square kilometers.

Moscow’s military recently captured a 200-square-kilometer area in Ukraine’s Sumy region and entered Dnipropetrovsk in May.

Russia Pushes for Territorial Claims

Russia now controls around 113,588 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory—about a fifth of the country—according to the Ukrainian government map.

This includes Crimea, nearly all of Luhansk, and large parts of Donetsk, Zaporizhia, and Kherson regions. Russian forces also hold parts of the Kharkiv, Sumy, and now Dnipropetrovsk regions.

President Vladimir Putin has stated that Russia is open to peace talks, but only if Ukraine withdraws from the four regions Russia claims as its own.

Ukraine and its allies reject these demands, calling them unacceptable and insisting that Ukraine’s territorial integrity must be fully restored.
