The “new” Karoline Leavitt is perhaps the next person to interview Trump on his favorite network

Who is going to be the next person to champion Donald Trump’s message and policies from the White House podium?

Ever since the current White House press secretary decided to step down, there has been a lot of speculation about who the next one will be.

Nobody appears to have an inside track on the perfect candidate. No one knows who it is going to be. Not even the president, it seems.

A new press secretary

The sudden job search for a new White House press secretary began after the current one, Karoline Leavitt, decided to abruptly step down from her position at the end of August.

Leavitt was first appointed in January 2025. Over her tenure, she became a prominent spokesperson.

She gained notoriety for being a loyal MAGA soldier standing firmly behind the administration’s messaging.

A sudden offer

During an interview on Fox News, Trump saw the opportunity to offer up a job. When the questioning turned to the departure of Leavitt, Trump turned the tables on the interviewer.

Fox News correspondent Alexis McAdams ended the ten-minute-long interview by asking Trump directly if Leavitt was replaceable.

Instead of giving a standard Trump answer, he decided to turn the question back to the 34-year-old journalist.

Turning the tables

“I would say you. How about you?” Trump responded.

He then looked off-camera to ask Leavitt for her thoughts on the matter, before convincing himself of the idea just moments later.

“I’ve always liked you; this is why I am doing this. I don’t do this that often,” Trump told McAdams.

The reporter awkwardly thanked him for the praise, leaving audiences to wonder whether a regular TV interview just turned into an impromptu White House job offer.

A bittersweet goodbye to Leavitt

Karoline Leavitt explained her departure as wanting to spend more time with her family after just giving birth to a second child. Leavitt called the decision “bittersweet.”

Trump also noted in the interview with McAdams that Leavitt had done a “great job.”

“But I found out she likes her children more than she likes Trump. I’m very concerned about that,” he joked while looking directly at Leavitt after just mentioning himself in the third person.

It will be interesting to see if the next person to interview Trump will also be offered the open press secretary job.
