Google’s latest attempt to reshape the way we search the internet is off to a rocky start.

This new feature is called AI Summary.

It provides quick, automatically generated answers to search queries — and has been quietly rolling out in recent weeks.

But early reactions are far from enthusiastic.

The tool is designed to offer short, ChatGPT-style answers at the top of search results.

But according to a study NetTjek24.dk, the feature frequently delivers incorrect or misleading information.

Nearly 50% of Answers Contain Errors

NetTjek24 analyzed 25 AI-generated overviews and found that 13 of them contained factual errors, especially related to prices and dates.

Another five responses had serious language issues, while three simply repeated the same information without adding value.

Jesper Nørskov Jensen from NetTjek24 believes the core problem lies in the source material.

“When Google communicates incorrect prices, it’s often because the AI model is pulling from outdated sources,” he said. “That can lead to big misunderstandings.”

Too Much, Too Soon?

With AI now playing a larger role in shaping the information we see online, some experts are asking whether Google rushed the feature to market.

Critics argue the tech isn’t ready for mass use and say the rollout feels like a response to growing pressure from competitors like OpenAI.

While Google has pitched AI Summary as a time-saving tool, some users are finding themselves double-checking the facts — or ignoring the summaries altogether.

The biggest risk for Google may not be a faulty tool, but what it does to public trust.
