Keeping a massive military force moving requires an endless flow of essential materials.

When those crucial supply lines begin to fracture, frontline operations quickly grind to a halt.

The devastating effects of a broken supply chain are now becoming visible.

Targeting the weak links

Ukrainian forces are systematically dismantling the logistics networks that keep their opponents armed. According to the UNIAN news agency, recent strikes have heavily targeted massive storage depots and key transportation routes.

These targeted strikes aim to completely choke off the flow of essential resources. The strategy makes it incredibly difficult for frontline troops to receive the heavy gear they need to maintain their offensive pushes.

Military observer Denis Popovich recently explained the developing situation during a detailed interview with Radio NV cited by O2.

He pointed out that successful hits on these deep supply chains are already creating severe shortages across the battlefield.

A looming shell famine

The full impact of these deep disruptions takes a little time to materialize. While frontline units still possess some leftover reserves, experts note that strict rationing is likely already underway.

Commanders are forced to make tough choices about where to send their limited supplies. Popovich warned that this situation directly impacts overall combat effectiveness.

He detailed exactly how these critical shortages alter daily operations on the ground for the artillery units.

“This is the beginning of a shell famine, when, due to ammunition shortages, division begins. This means that less ammunition is allocated to each gun, and artillery fire becomes less dense,” Popovich said.

Running out of gas

The logistical problems extend far beyond basic artillery rounds. Popovich predicted that military commanders will soon face identical struggles just trying to keep their transport vehicles moving.

“Fuel will be distributed to those units conducting direct combat operations. Then it will be distributed to specific groups. And this logistical resource will dry up,” he said.

Even Russian officials are now acknowledging the growing strain. Following a string of recent strikes, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov publicly admitted that there were “some difficulties” regarding fuel supplies in occupied Crimea.

Preparing for more strikes

These logistical nightmares are apparently forcing rapid battlefield changes. The Atesh movement reported that massive supply failures recently forced troops to urgently evacuate the Kinburn Spit area.

The Southern Ukrainian Defense Forces did not confirm that specific retreat. Still, they openly acknowledged that enemy forces face mounting logistical challenges across the occupied territories.

Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War fully expect Ukraine to push this distinct advantage. The think tank estimates that precision strikes on critical supply routes will only intensify in the coming weeks.
