Ukrainian Intelligence Predicts Possible End of War in Two Years

Wars often end not only on the battlefield but also through politics, pressure, and endurance.

History shows that conflicts can drag on for years, only to shift suddenly when economic weakness, alliances, or leadership changes take effect.

Ukraine’s war with Russia has already lasted far longer than many expected, but fresh assessments from Ukrainian intelligence now suggest there may be a timeline for when it could finally end.

Growing Pressure

According to Andrii Yusov, a representative of Ukraine’s military intelligence, the war could come to an end by 2026, reports Ziare.

He said this in an interview with Novyny.Live. Yusov explained that while many factors shape the war, the battlefield remains the deciding force.

He pointed to Russia’s economic struggles and growing military losses as signs that pressure is mounting.

Yusov added that the outcome will depend heavily on how sanctions against Russia develop and how much support Ukraine continues to receive from its allies.

Doing the Impossible

Stronger economic pressure and expanded Western aid could shorten the war. He said Ukraine is pushing forward with everything it can, doing “even the impossible,” to achieve a just peace as quickly as possible.

At the same time, Russia continues to increase drone production. Ukrainian intelligence says Moscow now builds about 2,700 Shahed drones and decoy UAVs every month.

Failed Efforts

While many of the decoys cause little real damage, they still complicate Ukraine’s air defense systems and require resources to intercept.

The possibility of peace talks remains a subject of debate. Reports say former U.S. President Donald Trump tried to broker peace last month, but efforts collapsed within days.

Further Sanctions

Trump has since said Ukraine may eventually need to accept a deal shaped mostly on Russia’s terms.

He also mentioned that he will decide soon whether to push sanctions or tariffs related to the conflict.

No Peace within Reach

Russian officials, including Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, say Moscow is open to talks but insist on detailed preparations before any summit.

President Volodymyr Zelensky has argued the opposite. He believes Russia is not serious about ending the war and is only sending signals to stall.
