Watches have long been associated with status and authority.

From luxury Swiss brands to domestically produced pieces, what a leader wears on their wrist can carry subtle messaging.

In Vladimir Putin’s case, that choice has now drawn fresh attention.

Watch spotted

According to Onet News, pro-Kremlin journalist Pavel Zarubin noticed the timepiece during a Kremlin event on March 25.

Putin reportedly removed the watch and placed it beside him, revealing the marking “Made in Russia”.

The moment quickly attracted interest, with observers focusing on the origin and design of the watch.

The manufacturer, known as the Imperial Petersburg Factory, identified the model as one of its classic men’s watches.

It said the timepiece stands out for its intricate construction and unique components.

Among the most notable features is a so-called stone wheel, described as one of the most difficult elements to produce due to the precision required.

Historic roots

The factory behind the watch traces its origins back more than three centuries.

Founded under Tsar Peter I, it continues the legacy of the historic Petrodvorets watchmaking tradition, according to TASS.

Today, it combines traditional stone craftsmanship with modern production techniques.

Putin’s decision to wear a domestically produced watch has also drawn attention.

Observers noted that the visible “Made in Russia” marking may carry symbolic weight, highlighting national industry.
