Should the Epstein files be fully released?

That question has been a hot topic in the U.S. ever since Donald Trump again got the keys to the White House.

After being sworn in as president again, Trump backed down on his promise to release the full Epstein probe, changing the narrative and continuously dismissing the matter as a “hoax” while denying any misconduct linked to Epstein.

But that does not keep his political opponents from digging into the Epstein–Trump connection.

New batch of documents

A newly released batch of internal emails from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate is prompting fresh scrutiny on how the disgraced financier privately assessed Donald Trump during a turbulent political moment in 2018.

The House Oversight Committee made the documents public earlier this week, offering one of the clearest looks yet at how Epstein viewed the growing chaos around the presidency at the time.

And it even reveals how the disgraced financier and convicted child sex offender viewed the man now sitting in the White House.

“Dirty Donald”

In a message from Epstein to former White House Counsel Kathryn Ruemmler, Epstein wrote: “I know how dirty Donald is,” Indy100 reports.

And that line quickly gained traction online.

The political media outlet Meidas Touch shared the excerpt on social media, adding only: “Dirty Donald.”

Other users echoed the phrase, with Democratic strategist Adam Parkhomenko writing: “Every single Democrat should be calling Trump ‘dirty Donald’.”

Malcolm Kenyatta, Dem. Rep. for Pennsylvania’s 181st District, joined in by reposting the email with the same wording.

The group Republicans Against Trump also circulated a video of Trump and Epstein together, captioned: “Dirty Donald.”

But this is far from all that has been revealed.

“I told everyone”

Among the roughly 20,000 pages of material, lawmakers highlighted an exchange in which Epstein reacted to a Daily Beast opinion article examining Trump’s mental stability.

According to reporting by The Daily Beast, the op-ed — titled “How Close Is Donald Trump to a Psychiatric Breakdown?” — was sent to Epstein in the spring of 2018.

The writers cited mental-health specialists who argued Trump was displaying signs of mania and posed an “imminent danger” as political and legal pressure intensified.

That same day, former New York Times reporter Landon Thomas Jr. emailed Epstein, telling him that Trump was “scaring the s–t” out of him and warning that the president “could well tank [the] global economy.”

Hours later, Epstein replied with a sharply worded message: “he feels alone. and is nuts!!!, I told everyone from day one. evil beyond belief. mad, and most thought I was speaking metaphorically. it’s obvious he could crack.”

The rumors about Trump’s mental health

The president, now 79, has repeatedly made headlines due to his behavior and advanced age, which several experts and commentators have linked to possible mental issues.

In October 2025, Trump tried to silence those rumors by telling reporters that he had taken an IQ test, but as Times of India reported in early November, Trump seemed to confuse an IQ test with a dementia screening, adding fuel to the fiery debate over his cognitive capabilities.

Why the 2018 context matters

The emails were written during the Mueller investigation and the public attention surrounding the Stormy Daniels allegations against Trump.

The Mueller investigation was launched to uncover whether Russia interfered in the 2016 elections to help Donald Trump become president, and the Stormy Daniels allegations were that Trump had ordered his former attorney to use campaign funds to buy Daniels’ silence over an alleged one-night stand.

Although the files do not indicate whether Epstein ever attempted to contact Trump, the correspondence shows he was closely tracking the mounting pressures on the White House.
