Looking for a car that can go the distance? The answer to your dreams might just be here.

A Chinese plug-in hybrid SUV has shattered a world record, traveling an astonishing 1,305 miles (2,100 kilometers) on a single tank of gas.

Meet the Chery Fulwin T10.

This achievement far exceeds the previous Guinness World Record for a plug-in hybrid by about 186 miles (300 kilometers).

The record-breaking journey began on July 17 in southwest China and concluded three days later in the city of Zhuhai on China's east coast.

So, what's the secret behind this incredible achievement?

According to Car News China, the secret to the Chery Fulwin T10’s success lies in its powertrain.

Even though it has a combined output of 610 horsepower and is equipped with four-wheel drive, the SUV uses a small 1.5-liter gasoline engine. This engine is paired with a 34.4 kWh battery, which has an energy density of 150 Wh/kg. T

he battery alone can power the SUV for up to 130 miles (210 kilometers) without using any gas.

This hybrid system will also be used in other models from the Chery brand, like the Omoda and Jaceoo, which are expected to come to Europe later this year.

It’s not yet known if these models will be available in the US.

This record isn’t the only one set by Chinese hybrid vehicles recently.

On July 5, BYD claimed that one of its plug-in hybrids reached an altitude of nearly 3.7 miles (5,980 meters), setting a new height record for hybrids.

However, not all Chinese car companies are doing well. HiPhi, a company that had plans to expand into other countries, recently filed for bankruptcy after stopping production for a year.
